Coverage

 

Reception is variable in this hilly, relatively isolated district. There is coverage for Telecom and Vodafone at our base, but you may not be able to contact us if we are away. There is no coverage on the Mohaka or Waipunga Rivers.

 

What to bring

 

You need to bring:

• Sunscreen, sun-hat, sunglasses,  insect repellent, etc
• Clothing to suit cold and/or rainy weather. A change of clothing is recommended.
• A dry bag for personal items that will be damaged by water.
• Fishing and firearms licenses and hunting permits, as applicable.
• Other items as advised at the time of booking.

 

We provide all safety gear associated with rafting.

How to find us

 

McVicar Road runs off State Highway 5 just west of the Mohaka River bridge. Number 112 is 1 km down the road on the left.

 

Mountain Valley Lodge is at the end of the road and it is clearly sign-posted on State Highway 5.

 

Travel time is approximately 40 minutes from Napier and 1 hour from Taupo.
